Welcome, New Authors!

Thank you for taking the time to view our site, and for considering us as a potential partner for what we recognize to be a project that is near and dear to your heart: your own book.

We gladly welcome submissions of writers from all walks of life. We do ask, however, that you carefully review all requirements before submitting your work or contacting us with specific questions. On this site you will find a listing of FAQ’s (frequently asked questions) which will hopefully provide you with some of the information for which you may be searching.

Does Destiny Image ever work with new or unseasoned authors?

Yes, we do! Our main goal is not to publish professionals, but rather to publish the books on which we feel the power and the presence of God. We are not just looking for polished; we are looking for powerful.

Keeping this in mind, remember to help us understand what makes you unique as an author. Every story line has been done before… What makes your manuscript stand out?

If for some reason we are not able to publish your manuscript at this time, keep on writing! Continuing to develop your craft and improve your style will bring you that much closer to achieving your dreams.

Are there any types of books that you DON’T publish?

Unfortunately, we are not able to publish from every genre of writing. At the present time, we are not able to work with books of poetry, art, or children’s stories. We are also extremely limited with the amount of fiction that we are able to publish.

For authors who reside outside of the United States: We are rarely able to work with books from authors who reside outside of the country– namely those who have not already established a platform here as an author or speaker. The main reason for this is marketing, as it is extremely difficult for an author to market a book in the US if he or she is rarely (or never) able to travel here.

What types of books do you look for specifically?

We are most interested in finding books that we feel would relate well to our particular audience of readers. Some major topics that we look for include: dreams/dream interpretation, supernatural God encounters, healing/deliverance, and prophecy. While we are not necessarily limited to these subjects, we are looking closely for books that will fit into our vision and calling as a company.

How do I begin the publication process? What are the steps involved?

While the process may vary for each individual author, this is a general look at our process for new authors:

First, submit a completed book proposal for us to review. This form will provide us with the information that we need to get to know a bit about your book, as well as you as an author. If you wish to submit a portion of your manuscript online along with your proposal, you may do so. We do not require specific formatting, but please remember that first impressions are important, so proofing ahead of time is advisable. You may also send a portion of your manuscript to our mailing address:

Note: Destiny Image is unable to return submitted manuscripts and print books after they have been sent for review. Please plan accordingly and send only items that you do not need to have returned to you.

After submitting your work, please allow for a waiting period of approximately eight to twelve weeks. We understand that you are anxious and excited for a response, but we also want to dedicate our time and energy into giving each manuscript the personal attention it deserves. Waiting patiently for a response during this time will allow us to do just that.

After we have reviewed your proposal and read through your manuscript, you will receive a response informing you of our decision. If we feel that your book would fit well into our voice as a company (and marketing abilities), we will make an initial contact to begin the discussion of getting a contract signed. Your manuscript will be evaluated, and the project will be underway.

What services are actually included in the publication process?

This list will vary greatly from author to author, and from book to book. However, our general services would include: evaluation, editing (whatever level is necessary), proofing, cover design, pagination/layout design, printing, and marketing.

Does Destiny Image self-publish?

Destiny Image does not (currently) offer self-publishing or co-publishing models. We are a traditional publisher, which makes for a vastly different process. There are several major differences which are outlined below:

Unlike a self-publishing model, Destiny Image will not be able to accept every manuscript that is submitted. We will be looking specifically for books that fit well in our specific marketing plan and audience of readers. Another main difference is the distribution of cost: while self-publishing can certainly be cost-effective for new authors in terms of the printed books themselves, it is up to the author to pay out-of-pocket for services such as editing, proofing, cover design, etc… There is also no backing in the marketing sphere, so an author is solely responsible for selling his or her book. When working with a traditional publisher, all of these services are included in the publication (including a marketing partnership). The higher cost of the books reflects the quality of the product.

What is the cost of publishing?

This can often be a frustrating topic for new authors, as there is no set number that will be true for every book. Each book is unique, so costs will vary. When working with brand new authors who have not yet established a strong platform, we typically require a large pre-purchase of books (anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 books–depending upon the subject matter of the book). This amount will be stipulated in the contract that is signed. These books will be sold to the author at a highly discounted rate, and will simply serve as a sign of investment and commitment on the part of the author.

The task of publishing and marketing a book is a partnership between a publisher and an author, and this partnership will require commitment to the project. Typing “The End” is only the beginning. Be prepared to help develop, promote, and market your book while we work to do the same!

Is there any risk involved in submitting my work?

No, your manuscript and personal information remains confidential throughout the submission process. Whether you submit through email or snail mail, your work will be reviewed by a small staff in the Acquisitions Department only. No further steps will be taken until the author has been contacted.
