Passover: The Curse Is Broken!

This week is a very special and sacred time as Passion Week on the Christian calendar aligns with the beginning of Passover on the Hebrew calendar.

It is not a coincidence, it is a divine invitation. I truly believe the Lord is calling His people to slow down, to rest, and to enter into Shabbat with Him. This is not just physical rest, but a spiritual stillness where we cease striving and come back into alignment with who we are in Christ. It is a week of consecration before crossing over into a new season, because God is advancing you. He is positioning you for what is next, but before you step into it, there must be preparation.

On the Hebrew calendar, this time begins with Nissan 14, known as the day of preparation, which is widely believed to be the day Jesus was crucified. At sundown on April 1, we enter Nissan 15, which is Pesach or Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The resurrection of Jesus historically happened on Nissan 17, which this year, will be Saturday April 4. Even though the Christian calendar may celebrate Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday on slightly different days, the spiritual significance remains the same. This entire period is a window for prayer, fasting, reflection, and renewal. It is a time to allow God to reveal deeper levels of your identity and your calling as you step into this new year.

When we look at the foundation of Passover in Scripture, we see God’s instructions clearly laid out:

“And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you. And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever” (Exodus 12:16-17, KJV).

God instructed the Israelites to sacrifice an unblemished lamb and place its blood on their doorposts so that the angel of death would pass over them. This was not just about protection, it was about deliverance. It marked the beginning of their exodus from bondage into freedom. Passover is a lasting ordinance to be practiced in remembrance for generations to come. Jesus Himself practiced Passover (see Luke 22:8).

And this is where we must understand that Jesus is the fulfillment of that story. He is the Passover Lamb. His blood was shed not just for one people, but for all humanity. Just as the blood on the doorposts brought protection, His blood now covers us, redeems us, and sets us free from sin, death, and the grave. The cross becomes that doorpost, and through it, we are brought into victory. Scripture confirms that He took the curse upon Himself:

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree” (Galatians 3:13, KJV).

But here is what the Lord has really been speaking—many believers are still living as though they are under a curse that has already been broken. When Adam and Eve fell in the garden, sin, separation, and the curse entered into the world:  Genesis 3:16-19 (KJV) reads:

“Unto the woman He said, ‘I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. And unto Adam He said, ‘Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.’”

But when Jesus died on the cross, He took that curse upon Himself and broke its power. Yet so many are still living in fear, anxiety, lack, shame, toil, and brokenness, because they have not fully stepped into the reality of what He has done. This week is an opportunity to shift your perspective. You must begin to see your life through the finished work of Christ and not through your circumstances. He redeemed you from the curse of the law and from the curse of the fall of man.

Hebrews tells us that Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before Him: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame” (Hebrews 12:2, KJV). That means He saw something greater than the suffering. While the world saw shame and defeat, He saw restoration. He saw you being reunited with the Father. He saw freedom, healing, and redemption. The cross was not defeat; it was victory. It was the moment everything changed, and because of that, you now have access to live in freedom.

Because of His sacrifice, the veil has been torn and access to God has been restored: “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus” (Hebrews 10:19, KJV). You no longer need to strive to reach God, you can come boldly into His presence, cleansed and made whole. It is the release of the New Eternal Kingdom Order in the earth and we are called to walk it out , without the curse holding us back.

This is also a season of spiritual advancement. God is releasing new mantles, new assignments, and fresh revelation. Many of you have already been receiving dreams, visions, confirmations, and opportunities that are pointing you toward your next level. But you cannot step into that next place with the same mindset. You have to think differently, see differently, and mature spiritually. You are moving from glory to glory, and that requires transformation.

That is why this week is also about cleansing. During the Feast of Unleavened Bread, leaven represents sin, corruption, and anything that contaminates. The Lord is calling you to remove the leaven from your life. That means letting go of unforgiveness, bitterness, resentment, fear, and destructive habits. It means taking a real look at what is in your heart and even in your home and asking the Lord to cleanse it. Some of you need to make things right with people. Some of you need to forgive and to let go of things you have been holding onto. You cannot carry what belongs to the old season into the new one.

Often, it is not God holding you back, it is unresolved issues that are still attached to your life. When you repent and surrender those things, the enemy loses his grip, and you step into freedom. Repentance is not punishment, it is release. It is the doorway into your next level. When you humble yourself before God, things begin to shift quickly.

For those who have not yet made Jesus Lord of your life, this is your moment. Salvation is the true crossing over. It is stepping out of darkness and into light, out of bondage and into promise. Through Him, you receive forgiveness, healing, and restoration, and you begin a brand new life in Him. Simply say a prayer asking God for forgiveness and tell him that you repent for your sins and want to walk in a new life! Romans 10:9-11 says, “ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, ‘Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.’”

This is also a time where God is moving in healing and restoration. I truly believe that as people surrender and align with Him this week, healing is taking place, physically, emotionally, and relationally. Relationships are being restored, sickness is being lifted, and chains are being broken. There is a grace in this season for wholeness.

Passover is also a time of giving. Scripture teaches:

“Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord shall choose: because the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, therefore thou shalt surely rejoice. Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the Lord empty: Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee” (Deuteronomy 16:15-17, KJV).

This is not about obligation, but about alignment.  In these scriptures God speaks His own desire to bless you and increase you in all the works of your hands. In faith, come to Him in an act of worship that positions you to receive what God has promised.

There are blessings connected to this season that we cannot ignore. The Lord declares 7 Blessings from Exodus 23:20-32:

  1. God will assign an angel to His people

  2. God will be an enemy to the enemies of His people

  3. God will give prosperity to His people

  4. God will take sickness away from His people

  5. God will give long life to His people

  6. God will bring increase and inheritance

  7. God will give a special year of blessing

These covenant promises are yours, divine protection, provision, healing, long life, increase, and victory over opposition. Some of you just need to hear today that you will live and not die and God has a special year’s blessings just for you!

This is your crossover moment in a new season. This is your week to rest, to cleanse, to realign, and to receive. You have been set apart, anointed, and appointed. The curse has already been broken. Now it is time for you to step fully into your next level, to walk in freedom, authority, and purpose through the finished work of Jesus Christ.
