He Saw Angels & Demons at War: A Prophetic Vision of God’s Protection Over You & Your Family

The Bible continually tells us that we are involved in a conflict between kingdoms: the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of satan, or the adversary.

(The word satan in Hebrew means “adversary.”) It is a clash between good and evil, and an ongoing battle between the Creator and those in rebellion against Him.

But it is not a battle with an uncertain outcome. There is one all-powerful God, and those in rebellion against Him have a limited time before their rebellion is crushed. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ, “who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age,” effectively broke the power of the enemy (Galatians 1:4). First John 3:8 (ESV) states clearly: The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” The rebellion against God will be over someday, and all accounts will be settled in the Kingdom’s favor.

The Bible has much to say about the nature of the spiritual warfare around us. For one thing, the struggle between good and evil is not what it appears to be on the surface. Our battle is not against people, but rather against spiritual forces influencing human behavior. The apostle Paul makes that point:

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12 ESV).

The Greek words used for those with whom we “wrestle” are military/government references. It should come as no surprise then that the Bible paints a picture of spiritual warfare between angels and demons, though we get less detail than we might wish. For example, we see this reference in the book of Revelation where Michael and his angels fight “against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated…” (Revelation 12:7-8 ESV).

Another interesting reference is found in Daniel where an angel (sent with a message for Daniel) encountered spiritual resistance:

Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia…. Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? But now I will return to fight against the prince of Persia; and when I go out, behold, the prince of Greece will come” (Daniel 10:12-14, 20 ESV).

Cody has told us that he sees angels and demons fighting, seemingly on a regular basis:

Marissa (M): Can you tell me what the angel looks like?

Cody (C): Light. I already told you that.

M: Do you see their clothes or just light? Is there a face?

C: Not faces—just light.

M: Can you describe how the demons look?

C: No. They are dark.

This was from an earlier conversation about the fighting between angels and demons:

M: Is there anything else you want to talk about?

C: Yes. Are you ready to learn more about angels?

(All): Yes, we are!

M: Are you ready to tell us more?

C: Yes. I am ready to talk about it now.

Glori (G): We’re ready to hear more.

C: I see angels and demons all the time. I think they are in battle for me. It can be scary at times.

Matt (Mt): You have the power as a believer. Do you believe that? Anytime they are bothering you, tell them to leave in Jesus’s name.

C: Yes, the demons are liars and they tell me they will be back. Mt: They can’t come back. Do you know that?

C: Yes, the angels said they will lie to hurt me. M: Who will lie?

C: The demons.

Mt: (The angels) are right. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. God is greater ...

C: Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

Mt: When you see Jesus—and we believe you—is there ever anyone with Him?

C: No.

M: Do you have questions for Mom, Dad, or Austin?

C: I want you to please understand my world.

M: Your world is very different from our world. It’s hard for you to understand that we don’t see what you see, and for us to understand what you see. The best thing is for you to tell us what you see so we understand.

C: Yes, it is hard to talk about.

Mt: We believe by faith. You have faith and sight—we believe the same thing you tell us because the Bible tells us that. All of us in your family believe that you have the gift of seeing these things.

C: I understand what you are saying, but not what you experience.

Yet another conversation about the fighting between angels and demons went this way:

M: Who left?

C: The demon.

Joe (J): When the demon left, was there an angel here?

C: Yes, they were fighting.

J: (An angel) was fighting against the demon?

C: Yes.

G: Could you see them?

C: Yes.

J: And you said the angels are stronger?

C: Yes.

J: Where did you see them fighting?

C: In the room.

J: When the demon left, was he angry?

C: He was furious.

J: Did he say anything when he left?

C: He said he would be back.

J: You know he cannot come back and overcome you.

C: I did not know (when he said it).

J: Remember, greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. Do you believe that?

C: I want to. I feel better.

A big part of Cody’s breakthrough has been his ability to finally tell us more about what he experiences. He has even seen “weapons” used in warfare. The Bible gives glimpses of this, going back to Genesis 3:24, when God placed a cherubim guard with a “flaming sword” at Eden’s gate, or the incident when the angel’s sword almost removed Balaam’s head (Numbers 22:29). In a later conversation than the one you just read, Cody was ready to give more details about that.

Marissa (M): Do you want to talk about Pastor Joe’s questions, or do you have something else you want to talk about?

Cody (C): Joe’s questions.

M: We can talk about questions on your brain, or dig deeper into the spiritual realm you see?

C: Spiritual realm.

M: Want to talk about angels or demons?

C: Angels.

M: Can you tell me how angels and demons fight?

C: They battle each other.

M: Can you describe the battle for me?

C: They fight with weapons and physically.

M: What kind of weapons?

C: Battens.

M: What do battens look like?

C: Battens look like a tomahawk?

M: Is that the only weapon you see?

C: I see weapons I don’t recognize. We don’t have them on this earth.

M: Do we have anything else similar?

C: Not really––just clubs and tomahawks.

M: Can you tell me how an angel protects someone?

C: They protect them by following them and by fighting demons that try and inflict harm.

M: Have you seen that happen?

C: Yes, I have seen angels fight for you, Marissa.

M: How does that make you feel?

C: The last time was a while ago, but the angel was ready—to fight.

M: Why do they fight?

C: You.

M: Was there a reason?

C: Yes, you were studying (spelling to work with us).

M: Is there anything else you want to tell me?

C: Yes—I am glad the angel protected you Marissa. I like spelling with you.

M: Is there an angel here now?

C: Yes—always Marissa.

M: Is there a demon here now?

C: No.

M: When you see the fight—how does that make you feel?

C: I feel safe with your angel here.

M: Is it always the same angel?

C: Sometimes it’s a different angel.

Certain themes show up repeatedly when Cody wants to talk about the spiritual world. Sometimes we will get perspective on earlier comments or further explanations about something Cody has described. There is often overlap between his comments in sessions, but sometimes new details emerge:

Marissa (M): Do you want to read the lesson, or answer some questions?

Cody (C): Answer some questions. Let’s start with angels and demons.

M: I want you to tell me more about when angels and demons fight.

C: They fight and someone wins.

M: What happens when someone wins?

C: They are stronger.

M: Can you clarify that for me? Tell me more.

C: The winner gets stronger.

M: What happens to the loser?

C: They leave.

M: What happens?

C: They disappear.

M: Is it always the same winner?

C: The winner.

M: Who is always the winner?

C: Mountains.

M: You’ve said that twice now. Can you explain the mountains?

C: Yes—the mountains always win.

M: Are angels and demons both mountains?

C: Yes.

M: I am confused by that—so angels and demons are fighting and the mountains always win. Can you explain to me what the mountain is?

C: Lots of angels or demons.

M: When they fight—do they ever fight one on one? Tell me more.

C: Yes—controlling each.

M: So they fight one on one—controlling each?

C: One on one—like wrestlers.

M: Anything else you want to tell me about the angels and demons?

C: Yes—demons want to win—angels do too.

M: How do angels and demons get around?

C: They appear sometimes.

M: Anyone else ever with them?

C: Sometimes.

M: Can you tell me who someone else might be with them?

C: No I cannot.

M: Do you want to keep going? Tell me what is going on in your body.

C: It is hard to talk about.

M: Hard to explain, or just too hard?

C: It is emotional.

M: (Let’s stop—end of discussion.)

After a break, the conversation started back up:

M: Is something happening around us right now?

C: Yes––things are happening here.

M: Do you want to tell me about it?

C: No—I don’t want to talk about it.

M: Do you want to pray?

C: Yes. I want Dad to pray.

M: Are you done for today?

C: Yes.

M: Anything else you want to tell Mom or Dad?

C: No.

Matt: Do you want to thank Marissa?

C: Thank you Marissa. I love you so much.

M: Thank you buddy—I love you so much. I’m so proud of you.

The knowledge that spiritual warfare happens around us constantly is more than sobering. The Bible describes angels as “ministering spirits” serving those who will inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:14). Cody and others appear to be more aware of how the “ministry” of angels takes place.

But the details of what Cody sees are not always easily described. Part of the challenge in getting specific information is that Cody has to be willing to speak about a topic. If it appears that something is causing emotion in a way that upsets him, we end the conversation quickly. This is a difficult barrier at times.

But there is another subject about the spiritual world that never upsets him. In fact, the subject delights Cody and calms him down.

Cody has seen and spoken with Jesus.
