Limitless Faith: Break Free From Fear and Step Into God’s Calling
I had a vision from the Lord one day, and He took me to the “situation room.”
An angel kept giving me boxes with the word FAITH written on top. They began to stack higher and higher to the point where I couldn’t carry them anymore. I was then taken into the “control room.” As I entered this room, I was passing off these boxes in my hands to another angel. God said to me, “As more faith is required, the more control I have to release. It will become out of my hands, so to speak.” I believe He is saying that we must release control! Where He wants to take you, you will not feel safe. It will be uncomfortable.
We know that we believe in the God of Heaven and earth, but do you know that He believes in you? This is a massive revelation for some people to realize. Maybe you need to take a minute and dwell on that thought. You may think, Well of course He believes in me, He made me. But there is a much deeper meaning here that we will talk about in this chapter.
Did you know there are levels of faith? It doesn’t take much to believe in an amazing God as there are miracles that happen all around us, but He wants to take us deeper into the realms of faith (which we cover later in this chap-ter). It costs, it can be painful, but the reward of our faith is an eternal promise that ends with us meeting Jesus face-to-face. Faith requires action.
Now I am sure the people who will read this book will be at different levels of their faith. Some may be new to Christianity and still sorting out what faith actually looks like. Others may be seasoned in their journey and walk with the Lord and understand what it means to live a radical life of faith.
I have believed in God since a young child and knew that there was something greater to live for. I would say that my faith, for the most part, has always been strong, although I have had plenty of moments of weakness. As said before, I had some amazing encounters as a child and teenager, which I believe has trajected not only me, but my husband and I on a faith journey. My husband and I have taken some massive steps of faith over the past 15 years, not always knowing where we will land. I believe God is taking a lot of people, particularly on the “unknown” path, where we are trusting Him every day for what we need, and doing our best to play our part in the reformation of the global Church.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him (Hebrews 11:6 NIV).
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV).
“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:22-24 NIV).
If you are a follower of Jesus Christ your faith should always be increasing, not decreasing. I have learned that God likes to take us through different levels of faith. Scripture says that if you are faithful with little, you will be faithful with much (Luke 16:10). I believe God loves to challenge us in our faith. Faith is the basis of everything we live on. He doesn’t like us to be too comfortable because when we get comfortable, we settle for less than what He wants for us. I don’t know about you, but I am not a settler, nor do I believe God wants us to be. Our faith will be challenged and tested on all different levels as you travel on your spiritual journey. It’s inevitable.
When God spoke to my husband and me about moving to Europe in 2015, we had several words spoken over us about being part of an awakening that would take place. As I am writing and living in the UK, going on nine years at this point, I believe we are just beginning to see something shift in the UK that will be different from anything before. For the first four years in the UK we shared the gospel to several thousand students, for the past five years we have trained and equipped several hundred people in supernatural ministry, and currently we have mentored almost 75 people from different parts of the world in supernatural ministry and hearing the voice of God. We are just getting started.
When God spoke to us, the practicalities of what it would take to move internationally seemed like we were scaling a mountain and walking into a dark cave. We had already moved to North Carolina six years earlier from Ohio, and that was a big step in itself, let alone God asking us to go to another country, but we knew Holy Spirit was speaking.
The biggest hurdle was the financial part. We needed well over $20,000 to move. We had just bought a house not even two years earlier, had two cars, and were settled, at least so we thought. In June 2015, we officially left our home in North Carolina and temporarily moved back with family in Ohio. Within four months, we had raised well over the amount we needed. And within a few short months, we paid off some debt, sold our house and cars, and Jesus did it all. We couldn’t believe it. It was seriously supernatural! There were steps and steps of faith along the way. I won’t share the entire story in this book as there are too many details, but I can say that faith brought us through. As I said, there are levels of faith. Most of us either have a little faith, increasing or growing faith, great faith, or perfect, unwavering faith.
The following are three truth bombs to go deeper into faith.
When God says do something, do it now! Be obedient, don’t hesitate. There were several moments when I thought that moving to the UK would be in the future. We had two young children at the time, and it all seemed a bit overwhelming, but I knew in my spirit it wasn’t for the future, it was now! Obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22). You will sacrifice a lot in being obedient, but I can tell you He knows us best and knows what we need when we need it.
There are lessons God wants us to learn along this journey of faith. I would like to say that these are easy lessons, but most likely they won’t be. During our journey, God stripped off our religiosity (a big one), materialism, lack of generosity, poverty mindset, and other distractions.
Big faith equals big risk! To have big faith requires big risks. We risked nearly everything to do what God called us to do. We left family, people we dearly loved, finances, time, all to simply be obedient.
I understand that not everyone is called to another country. This is just part of our story to tell, but God may be asking you to do something extraordinary. In fact, in my spirit, I feel that someone reading this book right now knows that God has asked you to do some-thing extravagant, something beyond yourself, but you have allowed fear and rejection to step in the way of being obedient.
Now is the time to rise to the occasion and go! Maybe it is time to move to another location, give a generous donation, or risk a new relationship. Whatever God may be asking you to do, just do it! The time is now. I can promise you that what is on the other side is something incredible, and you will never be the same again.
God’s interest is in forming you! Forming your character, your habits, how you spend your time, how you spend your money, and the list goes on. He wants you to be the best you can be in Him. If we don’t have faith for the journey, we will become stuck in the same place for a long time, and surely we don’t want that.
My husband and I have tried our best to be intentional about not putting God in a box. He is not a cookie-cutter God and we need to have the flexibility to work with Him, not against Him. He is the supernatural God who wants to do supernatural things in and through you!
Now let’s talk about different realms of faith. I want to use one of my favorite stories in the Bible out of Genesis 26 to bring context, but first let’s hit John 10:10 (NKJV) so I can set this up a bit first: Jesus says, “…I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” I believe wholeheartedly that God wants us to live in abundance—and to live in this abundance, God will take us through different levels of faith to get there. When I say abundance, I don’t mean just in finances but in all areas of our lives. According to Strong’s Concordance (H8228), the Hebrew word for abundance is shepha, which essentially means “plenty, greatness, and multitude.” You were born for greatness!
Now back to Genesis 26:12-13 (NIV) that says, “Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundred-fold, because the Lord blessed him. The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy.”
If you noticed, I emphasized four key words in the passage of Scripture, which we will label as “realms.” These four realms of abundance are being offered to you today. The word realm means “a royal domain, a Kingdom such as the realm of England. A region someone has dominion or rule over.”
When you live in a realm, you live in an established sphere of influence where you have dominion, authority, and experience. Same as with faith, when we have passed the test of certain levels of faith, we therefore gain authority or dominion in that area. This Scripture telling of Isaac’s sowing and reaping, I believe, helps correlate what these levels of faith are. The bottom line is that when we sow in faith, we reap in faith.
