End-Time Apostolic Blueprint: Release Your Authority to Destroy the Works of Darkness
The Lord needs apostles who have been chosen by Him to accomplish His apostolic agenda.
Remember that God’s apostolic purpose is to make the earth look more like Heaven than like hell. This is the apostolic agenda of God. We can see this revealed in Psalm 110:1-7.This psalm is a declaration of what the Lord is set to do and helps us get a right perspective of apostles and their intent.
The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies! Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power; in the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth. The Lord has sworn and will not relent, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” The Lord is at Your right hand; He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath. He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with dead bodies, He shall execute the heads of many countries. He shall drink of the brook by the wayside; therefore He shall lift up the head.
This shows the mandate of the Father toward the Son and what He is commissioned to fulfill. The Son will do this through an apostolic church led by apostles. Let’s walk through the mandates that this psalm lays out.
The first thing that is said is that Jesus is at the right hand of the Father waiting for every enemy to be subdued. This is through the apostolic that Jesus empowered. Hebrews 10:12-13 is this same verse but in the New Testament. We discussed this earlier, but now I want to take a more in-depth look at this whole agenda of God.
But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.
Since the day Jesus ascended, sat down at the right hand of the Father, and sent the Holy Spirit to empower us, He has been waiting for all His enemies to be submitted. He is waiting on the apostolic church/ecclesia that is His authority on earth to bring everything that opposes God under His footstool in absolute surrender.
First Corinthians 15:24-26 gives us added insight into this glorious idea. Jesus is sitting in complete rulership at the right hand of God until we, as His apostolic people, take the authority granted and win every victory.
Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.
Jesus will in finality submit the earth back to God His Father when every enemy that opposes the rule of God is subdued. This is what He is waiting on at the right hand of God. If the last enemy that will be defeated is death, this will happen completely at the resurrection of the dead. When Jesus comes back and the dead in Christ are raised, this is when the last enemy is defeated and conquered. The whole earth has been in travail in its fallen state since the day of Adam’s sin. When Jesus returns and the dead are raised, the power of death that took hold of creation will be abolished, according to Romans 8:19-23:
For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.
When the children of God are manifested or brought out of the grave, the whole of creation will be loosed from this bondage. This is when the last enemy of death is destroyed. The power of death will be broken from the people of God and the creation of God at this time. When Jesus descends from Heaven with all the glories of Heaven, then we will rise according to 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17. We will rise from every grave and meet the Lord in the air.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are sleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17).
Just for the record, let it been known that there will be no secret rapture and Jesus is not coming twice. He is coming once when all eyes will see Him and the dead in Christ will rise. This is in agreement with Revelation 1:7:
Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
This is when the whole of creation is redeemed from its fallen state into the glory of the Lord. This is the destruction of death that has reigned on earth since the day of Adam’s sin. When the dead are raised and we meet the Lord in the air, the new Heaven and new earth will be created under our feet. As we hover in the air with Jesus, there will be a massive reclaiming of the earth back to the majesty of God. We will then return to earth to rule and reign with Jesus forever.
The word meet is the Greek word apantesis, which means a “friendly encounter. It can also refer to a formal greeting or the act of going to meet someone. In some contexts, it can also mean a reply or response. It also had to do with the meeting of a dignitary or important person with a sense of respect.” When Jesus comes back, we will meet Him in the air. Then we will return to the now recreated earth and take our place in eternal communion and reverence of who He is.
This is what Peter speaks of in 2 Peter 3:12-13. We are looking for the formation and creation of the new Heaven and earth.
Looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
We as the people of God are looking for and hastening the day the Lord returns. The word hastening is the Greek word speudo, which means “to speed, to make haste.” We can surmise from this that we have an effect on the timing of the coming of the Lord. Through our obedience to fulfill His purpose on earth, we can speed up the day of His coming. Notice that when He comes, the old earth is dissolved and the new Heaven and earth is formed. This is what will happen under our feet as we ascend to be with Jesus in the air. Then we will return from having met Jesus to rule and reign on earth with Him.
I have said all this to say this is when the last enemy is defeated. Because Jesus is going to destroy the last enemy with His coming and glory, then every enemy prior to this belongs to us as His apostolic church. He is waiting at the right hand of God until His enemies are made His footstool. This means that everything that opposes the full expression of the Kingdom of God is the responsibility of the apostolic church. We are here as His body to do what He would do if He were here! First John 4:17 declares we are the image of who Jesus presently is as His apostolic body:
When we live our life in agreement of who He is, we set in place a boldness for when we stand before Him. As a result of us fulfilling His purposes and walking in perfected love, we will be prepared for that day. Our desire and endeavor should be to display the very nature and character of purpose of who He is. We are here to subdue every enemy in us, our families, our cities, states, regions, and nations. Every enemy that opposes the rule of God is to be placed under His feet and footstool. This is our mandate as apostles and an apostolic people.
We are here to express fully who He is. This means that we are to be expressing His rule in every aspect of life. This includes governmental issues of our nations. We are to be contending as an apostolic people for the rule of God to be manifested and revealed. We may not create a utopia or paradise on earth, but we will see earth look more like Heaven than hell. This is because apostles and their company are bringing all enemies under His feet. As this occurs, Jesus will then return and destroy the last enemy of death! This is in agreement with Psalm 110 and its declaration of God’s apostolic agenda.
