5 Legal Rights Demons Have in Your Life (And How to Close the Doors)
I’m going to give you five legal rights of demons—basically five ways demons enter your life and how to get free of them.
Demons cannot just enter a person’s life randomly. They gain access through open doors—through agreement, sin, trauma, unforgiveness, and participation in things that give them legal ground.
Picture this.
This is my home. You can only have access to my home if I give you a key. If I keep the doors locked, you cannot come in. But if I hand you a key, you now have legal access to my home because I gave it to you.
It is the same thing with demons.
Demons can only enter a person’s life if they are given a key. If a door is left open and you say, “Come on in. Sit down at my table. Eat with me. Dine with me,” what do they do?
Exactly what satan does. Steal. Kill. Destroy. They are agents of satan.
Let’s talk about five of the most common legal rights.
1. Unforgiveness: The Most Common Open Door
One of the biggest things I see when administering deliverance—and one of the main reasons people either do or do not get set free—is forgiveness.
Unforgiveness is one of the biggest open doors to the demonic. It gives demons legal access to torment an individual.
So how do you get free?
You forgive.
Forgiveness is an act of your will. It is obedience to God. It does not mean you necessarily feel like forgiving.
For example: “Lord, I forgive my mom for A, B, C, D, E, F, G…”
List everything. Be specific.
After you forgive, if you feel you have been oppressed by a spirit of unforgiveness, you can take authority:
“In Jesus’ name, I command any spirit of offense, resentment, bitterness, hatred, and unforgiveness to come up and out of me now in Jesus’ name. Holy Spirit, bring every unclean spirit to the surface now.”
Continue commanding it out until you feel relief. Some people cough. Some burp. Some yawn. Some shake. There is a spectrum when it comes to deliverance.
Once the legal right of unforgiveness is removed, you have stepped into God’s will. If fear, grief, sadness, or confusion remain, invite the Holy Spirit to heal the wounds connected to it.
The Bible says Jesus forgives us as we forgive others. We must be in forgiveness.
2. Willful and Habitual Sin (And How to Repent)
The second legal right is willful and habitual sin.
This can look like:
Smoking weed
Getting drunk
Partying
Extramarital hook-ups
Cheating
Watching explicit content
Gossiping
Anger
Masturbation
Addiction
Whatever it is—fill in the blank.
Willful, habitual sin opens doors to demonic spirits to torment you, especially in areas like lust, perversion, anger, and self-gratification.
How do you get free?
You repent.
Repentance means you turn away from it.
“Lord, I repent for this, this, this…”
Then command:
“I command every spirit associated with this sin to come up and out of me now in Jesus’ name.”
Renounce it. Command it to go.
Self-deliverance works for minor deliverance. But if there are deeper issues, sometimes you need one-on-one deliverance with a trained minister.
Also remove objects connected to the sin.
Get rid of substances.
Cancel streaming services if shows trigger you.
Get off social media if it feeds sexual sin.
Remove alcohol from your home.
Then anoint your home. Dedicate it to the Holy Spirit. Command every demon associated with that sin to leave.
You have authority to do that.
3. The Occult and Cursed Objects
Number three is the occult. Witchcraft, New Age, divination, psychic mediums, yoga tied to kundalini practices, crystals used spiritually—these are not neutral.
Witchcraft is called an abomination in Scripture. We are warned not to seek soothsayers, diviners, mediums, or necromancers. Deuteronomy warns that cursed objects bring curses into your home.
If you have:
Occult objects
Items used in rituals
Objects placed on altars
Items purchased from occult shops
Crystals used spiritually
Tarot or oracle cards
Get rid of them.
Burn them if necessary.
Renounce witchcraft. Renounce every occult activity—white magic, black magic, blood magic, sex magic, covens, psychic readings.
Repent.
Then command every spirit associated with witchcraft to leave in Jesus’ name.
The occult is a massive open door. It is literally sending invitations to demons.
We do not want that.
4. Soul Ties and Spiritual Access Points
The Bible does not use the phrase “soul ties,” but it talks about the soul being bonded to another.
There are godly soul ties and ungodly soul ties.
Ungodly soul ties usually form through sex outside of marriage, romantic fantasy, or even doing witchcraft with someone.
Picture a spiritual highway between you and another person. Now their demons have an access point into your life.
We need to make that highway a dead end.
Go through every person you have:
Slept with
Been sexually involved with
Been romantically obsessed with
Fantasized about
Practiced witchcraft with
Break the soul tie. Pray:
“I break every ungodly soul tie between me and ___ in Jesus’ name. Every spirit connected to that relationship must return to the throne of Christ and cannot touch me or my household.”
Allow only the love of God and the bond of the Holy Spirit between you.
Break those ties intentionally.
This is a major open door that many ignore.
5. Ungodly Agreements and Renewing the Mind
The fifth legal right is agreement.
Most people don’t realize agreement gives demons access.
If you have come into agreement with:
Religion without relationship
A critical spirit
A judgmental mindset
Self-condemnation
Fear
Lust
Rejection
Idolatry
A spirit of religion
You have made an ungodly vow.
Break it.
“I repent for coming into agreement with fear.”
“I break agreement with the spirit of religion.”
“I renounce self-condemnation.”
Then command the spirit to leave. Agreements are about thoughts. Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by renewing our minds. When the enemy whispers, “You’re stupid,” and you respond, “Yeah, I am,” you just came into agreement.
Instead say:
“No. Get out of my house! Get out of my life in Jesus’ name.”
Do not agree with demonic strongholds.
How to Close Every Door and Walk in Freedom
There are more than five legal rights, but these are foundational.
To close every door:
Forgive.
Repent of habitual sin.
Renounce the occult.
Break soul ties.
Break ungodly agreements.
Renew your mind daily with Scripture.
Take authority.
You are not meant to live oppressed.
Demons do not get to stay where there is repentance, forgiveness, and authority in Jesus’ name.
I hope this helps you.
I love you—and I am praying for your freedom.
