Overthrow Thrones of Darkness: Activate Angel Armies Against Demonic Forces
Excerpted from Angel Armies: God’s Supernatural Enforcers.
The Godhead, with its deployment of angels, is helping a willing remnant to cleanse the spirit realms.
He will dethrone demon principalities and powers, preparing for what we have been told is a billion-soul harvest, through a great shaking and a reset of our covenant roots in America. When Holy Spirit began downloading a deeper understanding of Angel Armies to me, He spoke two things that I’ve held on to ever since. He said, “The greatest days in church history are not in your past; they are in your present and in your future,” and, “I will now lead another campaign for King Jesus, similar to Acts 2; only this time, I will be bringing far more of the Angel Armies.” I believe that campaign has begun and we are going to live out what we have been stewarding for years.
Angels do not do their own bidding. They are under the authority of their leader, as we are told in Colossians 2:9-10 (ESV): “For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.”
Who is the head of all rule and authority? Jesus! We don’t have any problem with that; of course He is their leader. And so is Holy Spirit, because Jesus said that Holy Spirit was His other self:
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever (John 14:16 KJV).
The Greek word for another is allos, which means “another of the very same kind” (Strong’s G243). Jesus was saying that He will give us another comforter (allos), one of the same kind as Him. “My other Me” would be another way to translate that. Holy Spirit is equally part of the Godhead—just as Jesus and the Father—therefore, He is the head of all principalities, rulers of darkness, thrones, and dominions. He has supreme authority over all angels, both the fallen ones and the good ones.
It is crucial for the church to see and understand that these are demon principalities trying to rule nations and regions, and we are to wrestle and contend with them, according to Ephesians 6:11-13 (ESV):
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
What the church has not recognized and is so vital that we understand is that Christ and His Kingdom has its own principalities, powers, mights, and dominions, according to Colossians 1:15-16 and Colossians 2:9-10:
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him (Colossians 1:15-16 NKJV).
For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:9-10 NKJV).
We must get this into our heads. It is not that hell’s kingdom is organized and that Christ’s Kingdom is disorganized; that would be a foolish assumption. There is no Being more organized than God; He has planned everything to the zeptosecond.
The angels are networked, organized, and under the Godhead’s authority. Christ’s Kingdom has principalities, powers, angel princes, and commanders—all empowered by His might and His dominion, all over the world and all over the universe, for that matter. They are not disorganized; they are a finely tuned military army in the spirit realm, waiting to partner with us, and that is the key. That’s what the Ekklesias must do. We’re to run with the angels who are waiting to participate with the saints in their regions, under Holy Spirit’s guidance. They are waiting for someone with authority who will command, or release, faith decrees to activate and release them.
Colossians 1:18 (NKJV) says that Christ has the preeminence over all principalities, powers, thrones, and dominions; therefore, He has absolute power over hell’s principalities and powers and, of course, over His own. He’s superior, more powerful, and He’s preeminent. The point is, in Christ’s Kingdom, we (the Ekklesia) have mighty, powerful angels networked to assist us in our war against the kingdom of darkness.
And let’s not forget: there are far more pure, or obedient, angels than there are fallen ones. Remember, only one-third of the angels rebelled with Lucifer and were thrown out of Heaven. That means there are at least two-thirds who did not rebel, and possibly more, because we don’t know if God created additional angels. There are many who think that He does still create angels; I’m one who thinks that, as well. But it’s at least two-to-one odds, so we should be seeing more angel activity than demon activity.
We know that three archangels were a part of Heaven’s Angel Armies. I identified two of them earlier: Gabriel and Michael. The third one is Lucifer, and it is his throne we are now dealing with. Sadly, the Ekklesia has activated more demons in their territories with their words than they have angels. All over this planet, there are churches, pastors, leaders, and saints who declare evil is going to triumph.
They’re activating demon princes with their words and declarations and they don’t even realize it. However, God has been teaching us, and there’s a remnant who will only say what God says. We should be exceedingly confident, not just in knowing there are supernatural angels in superior numbers against fallen angels, but also in the fact that the Godhead has preeminent power over them.
The Apostle Paul wrote to the Kingdom of God and the Ekklesia in Corinth these words:
For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:3-4 AMPC).
Notice there is, indeed, a war taking place against demon powers and thrones that the Ekklesia is to overthrow. We can certainly see that in our world right now. Let’s read this same text in The Message:
The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity (2 Corinthians 10:3-6 MSG).
The Bible says we are to battle a corrupt, adversarial culture. Have you seen any adversarial culture lately? We have weapons (God-tools) that are designed to clear the land of barriers to God’s truth. There are times when Christ Jesus instructs the Ekklesia, led by Holy Spirit, to come against enemy strongholds in their regions, towns, cities, states, and nations. And sometimes, Holy Spirit calls upon the Ekklesia to demolish cultural iniquity and overthrow demonic thrones.
This is all a part of the Ekklesia’s assignment, but unfortunately, the church has not been doing that the past few decades. If you look around, you can see the effect of a passive church that wouldn’t take on this charge. In fact, many think and will preach the opposite. Some say we aren’t to concern ourselves with the culture, that we are to stay out of it and leave society with its warped philosophies alone. They tell us to stay in our safe religion zones. They want to keep us within the church walls, perhaps deal with some religious things, because we’re supposedly not to be involved in cultural matters.
If this is so, then why has God given us spiritual weapons that are meant to demolish massively corrupt culture? Why has He given us tools designed to smash warped philosophies, if we’re supposed to stay out of them? Why are we given weapons that are meant to tear down barriers to God’s truth? Why are we called the Ekklesia of King Jesus on the earth? Why tell us to demolish cultural evil?
We are not meant to stay out of it. The church is supposed to demolish cultural evil. We don’t destroy the people but what’s behind it all: demonic princes who are trying to pollute the nations of the world.
It’s demon doctrine to say we are not to be involved in social, cultural, or governmental matters. That’s an anti-Kingdom of God message. We’re to declare and stand for what God says, demolishing social, cultural, and governmental evil and oppression. And to do that effectively, we’re going to have to deal with the demon realm that is behind it. We can’t do that with our heads buried in the sand.
The Apostle Paul wrote to other New Testament churches, continuing the same theme. He wrote this to the Ekklesia in Ephesus:
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6 KJV).
The word places is plural and refers to heavenly realms and positions. The church is to be seated with Christ in heavenly spheres or places; a position of power and of rule is involved. Note that a “seat” is implied. We often say, concerning someone in government, that they “hold a seat,” meaning they have power and governing authority by occupying that seat.
Paul wrote this to the Ekklesia in Colossae:
Giving thanks unto the Father, which has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence (Colossians 1:12-18 KJV).
All of these—thrones, dominions, principalities, powers—are visibly seen in the nations of the world today, governing various regions, towns, nations, and so on. To capture a region or a nation, you are going to have to capture the throne, or seat, that is in power. That concept is not hard for us to understand because we see it in the earthly realm all the time; it’s visible.
But what about the invisible? What about the heavenly spheres or the heavenly places? What about the space between Heaven and Earth? The verses we just read in Colossians clearly state that some thrones and powers are not visible. But just because they’re not visible doesn’t mean that they’re not real. It just means we can’t see them with our natural eyes. God made thrones visible and invisible.
For example, God Himself sits upon the throne of Heaven. You can’t see the throne of God, but it’s real. And any decisions God makes from that throne in Heaven can affect things in societies and cultures on the earth.
Jesus also sits on a throne which is at the right hand of the Father in Heaven. You can’t see it with your natural eyes, but it’s real. And decisions that Jesus makes from His seat in Heaven can affect events in the earthly realm.
So, let’s not think of imaginary thrones. Instead, we need to picture real, but unseen thrones. Don’t be of the opinion that what goes on in Heaven has nothing to do with how the earth or how culture is affected. They may be unseen, but they do affect the earthly realm.
Before man was even created, we are told that Lucifer and his angels fought God for the throne of Heaven. Again, it’s a very real throne, though we can’t see it; at least, not yet! This battle is described in the book of Isaiah. It’s a passage that is often referred to, but rarely discussed:
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms? (Isaiah 14:12-16 KJV)
Let me just say this concerning Lucifer’s plan in this passage: you’ve got to be kidding me!
God promises he’s going to bury Lucifer; his fate is promised, but it’s not going to be like the others. Yes, he is the forever loser.
Let’s read it from the New Living Translation:
How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars [angels] of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon [reference to Baal]. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit. Those who see you stare at you, they ponder your fate: “Is this the man who shook the earth and made kingdoms tremble?” (Isaiah 14:12-16 NLT)
In Revelation 12, we read where Lucifer actually attempted a coup, an unlawful takeover of Heaven. He and his angels fought for God’s throne:
Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him (Revelation 12:7-9 NIV).
We know from these verses that Michael and his angels fought against Lucifer and threw him out. The battle was concerning who was going to sit on the throne and Lucifer was unsuccessful, to say the least, and fell like lightning out of Heaven.
But if Lucifer would dare attempt to take God’s throne, why wouldn’t we understand he will attempt to take other thrones? It’s been his master plan throughout all eternity, and it’s still taking place in the real—not imaginary—spirit realms in heavenly places and spheres. Lucifer’s objective has always been for his kingdom—his fallen angel princes, leaders, and demons—to occupy those thrones.
Lucifer wants to affect the natural government of those earthly regions, so through them, he can battle Christ and infect the earth with his diabolical schemes, thinking, laws, ways, ideologies, and warped philosophies. Lucifer wants his demon principalities, powers, and dominions influencing natural people, rulers, governments, and powers on the earth. Why?
So he can empower those who agree with his ideology, with his oppressive nature, his lust for power, his demonic thinking, and his agenda, which includes abortion, the normalizing of the sin of homosexuality, atheism, humanism, and doctrines of demons, to name a few.
The forever loser wants his kingdom to infect God’s Kingdom with his diabolical nature. Fallen humans have allowed him to do this for centuries, and it will take the reborn ones—the heirs—who have been recreated in Christ Jesus, and who have had authority restored to them in Christ’s Name, to dethrone Lucifer’s kingdom. It will take those who are now ruling and reigning with Christ in His Kingdom Ekklesias, who are empowered by King Jesus and the Holy Spirit and assisted by Angel Armies, to take them out.
